The analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of indoprofen were investigated in two studies in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The first compared single doses of indoprofen with aspirin and placebo to examine its analgesic effect. The second compared one week of treatment with indoprofen, ibuprofen and placebo to examine its anti-inflammatory effect. Single doses of indoprofen (200 mg) were shown to be superior to placebo in relieving pain and as effective as aspirin (700 mg). Indoprofen given in a dose of 200 mg four times daily for one week was shown to be superior to placebo and to ibuprofen (1200 mg daily).
