Using human and animal gastro-intestinal tissue as sources of prostaglandin synthetase it was found that prostaglandin synthesis is markedly inhibited by benorylate. In addition, benorylate antagonises the actions of prostaglandin E2 on the smooth muscle of the rat isolated stomach.
