Is Uveitis Associated with Ankylosing Spondylitis or with HLA-B27?

Sjef van der Linden, Hans A. Valkenburg and Arnold Cats

   Abstract

Acute anterior uveitis (AAU) is more often seen in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients with severe disease than in HLA-B27 positive relatives with or without sacroiliitis. Possibly the prevalence of AAU is associated with the severity of AS.

KEY WORDS: Acute anterior uveitis, Ankylosing spondylitis, HLA-B27
